Since the announcement that there is to be a TNA Wrestling: British Boot Camp, which was made back on September 1st 2012 at the TNA UK Fan Party, we have been keeping our eyes peeled for a launch date; and moments before Impact Wrestling was shown on Sunday 11th November, we finally found out when we will get to see the Challenge TV exclusive!
Jeremy Borash and Dixie Carter both took to Twitter to make the announcement, which was also heard on the show, and revealed the date as New Year’s Day 2013 at 10pm. On this night we will be treated to two back to back episodes of the brand new series. The show will then continue to be on our screens every Tuesday at 10pm throughout January.
For those of you who do not know what British Boot Camp is; it’s a six-part series which goes behind the scenes of TNA as the company looks for a UK superstar. The series will follow the story of four professional British wrestlers who are trying to make it big in the world of American wrestling as they pursue a contract with TNA.
The show promises that its viewers will experience the triumphs and tribulations of Manchester based tag team twins Hannah and Holly Blossom, Marty Scurll from Cambridge and Birmingham’s Rockstar Spud as they enter the TNA developmental system and go after their dreams of getting a spot on TNA’s wrestling roster.
We will see the wrestler’s travel from their UK homes and head to the USA to be trained, mentored and put to the test by the likes of Hulk Hogan and British wrestling legend Rollerball Rocco before they have a match at the home of TNA, the Impact Zone in Orlando Florida, where they hope to impress the judges and TNA President Dixie Carter. Whoever proves successful at the end of the series will not only get signed to a TNA contract but will also have the opportunity to appear in front of a home crowd on the TNA World Tour in January.
Acting Director of Challenge TV, Dominic Wilkins, said that “This series will provide unmissable entertainment content which resonates with our viewers”; and John Jelley, Sky Commissioning Executive for factual and features said, “We are confident that this show’s focus on four of Britain’s most promising wrestlers will inspire Challenge’s passionate TNA fans, and draw in a new audience to professional wrestling, as we track their daunting journey from the UK, through TNA boot camp to the high pressure finale in Florida.”
Challenge TV have kindly put the following exclusive preview reel on their website as a taster of what we can expect to see:
